Jerry Fowler - One Nation Under God

As Congressional (and Presidential) approval numbers approach record lows, I believe the majority of the American people would like to return to original founding principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

This general dissatifaction with Congress is due, in large part, to the incumbent career politicians, who are more interested in getting re-elected by pandering to special interests, than truly representing the people they have been elected to serve.

We need a return to citizen-legislators not career politicians, that actually serve the people, by adhering to and by supporting and defending "the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...". As someone who, for the first time, is running for public office, I pledge to uphold the Oath of Office for the U.S. House of Representative of Missouri's 5th District.

Restoring Fiscal Sanity and Personal Liberty

As the unemployment rate continues to hover between 9 and 10%, it is time to admit that the Keynesian fiscal policy the current Presidential administration with Congressional approval is following, has failed to keep the unemployment rate from exceeding 8% as was promised.

The trillion dollar budget deficits and multi-trillion debt that the United States is amassing are evidence that, central economic planning and control are failed policies that serve to weaken, not strengthen the economy of the United States.

Tax cuts alone will serve to stimulate the economy but the detrimental side effect is that our national debt will also increase and this ensures that future tax increases will be required to meet just the interest obligations on the national debt.

The rational approach to improving the economy consists of reducing the tax burden while simultaneously reducing the size of the government and the associated expenditures to pay down the national debt and restore economic prosperity.

My Political Views

I am a God-fearing American and a Constitutional Originalist, which means that I believe that the U.S. Constitution is best interpreted by the fixed and knowable meaning which was set down at the time the Constitution was drafted. I am a fiscal and social conservative who is running on the Republican ticket. I encourage all conservatives, regardless of past political affiliations to join me in striving for the Constitutional goals to "... form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity...".
